On an aerial work platform, the operator’s radio remote used to show a fixed drawing of the machine. With the dynamic side view we developed for the 480×272 colour display of a Scanreco radio remote, the display now shows the machine’s actual state. The system has been commissioned in the field.

What the display shows
- Main boom and jib are drawn live from the angles and lengths the PLC sends over the radio link.
- The basket tip follows the real geometry, with height and outreach next to it.
- LMI limit lines slide with the load chart, so the operator sees how much outreach is left before the limit.
- At the limit, the PLC stops the motion and the display shows why.
Under the hood
- Qt / C++ application on embedded Linux (ARM)
- CAN link to the CODESYS PLC
- The whole screen fits a radio budget of 72 bytes per second
- An interactive HTML demo and a Windows simulator let us agree on the design before touching the device
