CANopen I/O Node for MRS Electronic CAN I/O PLC

Turning rugged CAN hardware into a plug-and-play CANopen I/O node. At EHR Elektronik we delivered a complete CANopen application for the MRS Electronic CAN I/O PLC (order code 1.033.305.0001): firmware, documentation and a Windows commissioning tool, end to end.
Strong, reliable hardware: MRS Electronic
The MRS CAN I/O PLC is built for the realities of mobile machinery and commercial vehicles. Hardware you can put in the field and forget about.
- 9–32 V supply
- 2.5 A high-side outputs with short-circuit and over-temperature protection
- 6 analog inputs
- 8 freely configurable I/O pins
- Rugged sealed connector
Professional software & engineering: EHR Elektronik
Drawing on our track record in embedded systems and CAN communication, we implemented a full CANopen slave on the module:
- NMT state machine + producer heartbeat / boot-up
- Expedited SDO server backed by a flash-resident Object Dictionary
- TPDO1–3 / RPDO1–3 process data with rolling-counter and receive-timeout supervision
- Configurable pin-mode I/O engine: digital output, PWM (3–500 Hz), digital input, analog input, with FAULT diagnostics and safe-state handling
- Bilingual (EN/TR) user manual
Why CANopen?
CANopen is the language that mobile-machine and automation controllers already speak. By exposing the module through standard SDO / PDO / NMT services, any CANopen master (MOBA units, CODESYS-based PLCs and others) integrates it with zero custom-protocol glue. Standards-based means interoperable, documented and maintainable.
Effortless commissioning: Windows Service Tool
To make commissioning effortless, we also built a single-file Windows Service Tool: guided pin configuration, full Object Dictionary access and a live Test panel for inputs, outputs and faults over a PEAK PCAN interface, plus one-click EEPROM save, factory restore and Node-ID / baud setup.
